Environmental Health

Stephen D. Shireman, MA, LEHP, Director

The Role of Environmental Health in health maintenance is extremely important.  It is the basis element of preventive medicine.  Defined as the interrelationship between the environment and the health and well being of man, environmental health is a diversified public health program designed to control adverse conditions.  It will ensure to every individual, a standard of living adequate for the maintenance of health through inspections, consultations, education, and enforcement.  These measures will reinforce traditional sanitary inspection and quality control programs to reduce widespread occurrence of diseases.
