Vector Control Program

Through an Illinois Department of Public Health Vector Control Grant, our staff conducts public surveillance, consultation and education, trapping, identification, monitoring, and mapping of the Asian Tiger Mosquito (Aedes Albopictus).  Control and elimination of mosquito areas and population are then targeted.  Identification and control of the Asian Tiger Mosquito is an important public health function due to their ability to pass disease.  At this time, Illinois Department of Public Health Mosquito surveillance and control of West Nile virus and other mosquito-borne disease grant monies are available to this local Health Department.

Greene County Health Department hosts yearly Mosquito Larvicide Applicator Training to county village and city employees.  These individuals are legal to apply specific larvicides during the season and are licensed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
