Teen Parent Services

The Teen Parent Services program provides comprehensive and intensive case management services to young pregnant or parenting teens who receive Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) or KidCare Assist, or participate in another qualifying program such as WIC.

Major objectives of the Teen Parent Services program include:

bulletKeeping teen parents in school and monitoring their progress so they can achieve a high school diploma or GED certificate to become more self-sufficient.
bulletThe case manager and client developing an individualized Responsibility and Services Plan to assist the client in moving toward self-sufficiency in all aspects of their life.
bulletProviding on-site or making referrals to family centered activities and services to meet the physical and social needs of the young parents and their child(ren).
bulletEnsuring young parents receive education through workshops and counseling, related to parenting skills instruction, child growth and development, family planning (including abstinence education) and paternity establishment.
bulletReferring young families to health care professionals for prenatal care, child immunizations, and general medical services.
bulletProviding information and follow-up on the child support program thereby increasing the likelihood that paternity and support orders are established.
